Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Recommendations for ski school Val d'Isere

Can I have recommendations for ski school o Val d'Isere?

Firstly for my friend who is a beginner and after group lessons and secondly for myself to have a private refresher lesson?

Many thanks.

I would strongly recommend TDC (The Development Center). They have an office in Val D'Isere & Tignes. I have had multiple private lessons with Steve Angus - he is fantastic and my skiing improved tremendously this season thanks to his patient expertise. Other family members have also had lessons with Kim & Terry who are recommended as well. The advantage of TDC is that all their instructors speak English as their mother tongue. I believe they run group lessons as well - but have no experience of those. Check out their website. Their on-line booking service is very efficient and friendly.
(You can also get a discount at Snowberry for Ski Hire if you have a lesson with TDC!)

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Thanks for that. Do you recommend them for the group beginner lessons as well?

You need to Login to know who's really who.

Tignes might be a bit far for you but you could also try Alan Hole (@Alpine Logic). He was my very first ski instructor many years ago and I'd rate him highly:

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Would rather based in Val d'Isere

Looking at TDC it doesn't look like they are geared up for beginner group lessons. Though look good for me.

Any recommendations for a beginner? Thanks

Any opinions of Evo2?

I found BASS (British Alpine Ski School) to be great in VdI.

Only experience of Evo2 was in Les Deux Alpes and I didn't rate them.

@NickyJ, we had Valerie with Evo2. ..the one that is married to another instructor. She was excellent. I'd still go back to Steve Angus as well but the Evo2 lessons were included in the chalet

@NickyJ, we've had good experiences with both Evo2 and NewGen in EK, for early intermediate though, rather than complete beginner. Group offering for beginners depends on demand at various times of season.
As others have mentioned, TDC highly rated for private refresher tuition.

A couple of weeks ago I had TDC lessons at Val D'Isere with Kim which were fantastic. First day there were three of us, second day four, and the last day just me, so I had effectively a 3 hr private lesson.

I have used Snow Fun a lot, but that was a few years ago when they had French and English offices...it may be worth asking if they have any UK instructors working for them ATM. They were always very good value (at that time €95 for the afternoon, but now €130 from 2 - 4.30).

I have used Evo2 for the kids and always found them fine...I also seem to remember Valerie being excellent, from about 14 years ago.

I had planned on booking with TDC until i found out the minimum you can do is 3hrs. I am after 2hrs only as hubby doesn't want to join me.

Any updates on recommendations? Anything to chose between New Gen or Evo2 for an adult refresher for myself. I would class myself as intermediate. Thanks.

So if you're just off somewhere snowy come back and post a snow report of your own and we'll all love you very much

I would expect New Gen to be better, but also more expensive.

 You know it makes sense.

TDC is still your best option. You can always finish early if you need to. The quality of the coaching really is worth it.
