Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Grenoble v Geneva

Poster: A snowHead
Quick question, but lots of ifs, ands and buts.

As I have mentioned elsewhere, I intend doing this current season, but, as yet, I haven't decided exactly where yet. However, one of my best mates is getting married, and having a stag weekend, while I'm away, so I'm looking at flights back for long weekends mid season, and, apparently, Easyjet have a sale on at the moment, ending tonight. It's very likely I'll either be in the 3 Valleys, at Bourg St Maurice for the Paradiski, or in the Southern Alps region of L2A/Alpe d'Huez/Serre Che.

In all probability it will be one of the first 2 options, for which, I guess, Geneva is the best airport. However, can anyone confirm how easy the rail links are to both Geneva and Grenoble from BSM and, for instance, Moutiers. Also, can anyone confirm how expensive parking is at both airports, in case I take a car with me.

GNB parking is much cheaper than GVA, and you don't have to walk nearly as far. Good rail links from Grenoble centre.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

johnnyboy, for all those choices, Grenoble is a reasonable distance. There's a bus to the airport I think.

johnnyboy, Grenoble is better than Geneva but not by much, you're still looking at a significant wait at Chambery whichever route you take, the track from Chambery to BSM is single line for most of the way, so the trains are not as frequent as you think they could be. Grenoble airport is also a fair distance from Grenoble it's actually nearer to Chambery than Grenoble but the navette to the City centre is very cheap, 4Euros the last time I used it.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Thanks all, I've bitten the bullet and booked return flights from Grenoble; if I go to the Southern resorts, it's definitely nearer, and if BSM or the 3V not too much in it. Flights were cheaper from Grenoble, and if car parking is cheaper too so much the better. 2 return trips for just over £70 including taxes, so I can't complain too much about that! Thought I should book them now while they were cheap, especially as the discounts are supposed to end at midnight.

Now, if only I could be so decisive about where to spend the winter........ rolling eyes rolling eyes rolling eyes
