BernardC,
Good news....
but most decent manufacturers should do this... I got excellent service from one whose jacket I ripped on rocks... replaced the whole panel..and jacket like new. I paid post to France and peanuts for the repair in terms of what the jacket cost in the 1st place..
Delighted.

I have some Arc'teryx stuff that I wear for climbing, it's great kit and it's good to know the company is good on the after sales stuff too. Makes it well worth that extra couple of quid.

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

anyone know how distinct they are from salomon? I was much happier paying the premium for their cutting edge when there was a reasonable chance of it being made in vancouver, rather than as maybe (I don't know) PRC

David Murdoch, my keck's & jacket are brand spanking & are both labelled as "Made in Canada". My understanding is that Salomon have left Arc'teryx alone since their acquisition. Apparently there's some good Sallie branded tech clothing coming out this season also.

You know it makes sense.
|
Quote in an email from someone high up in Arc'teryx:
"Regarding labor in China: We actually still make over 60% of our
product in Canada and over half of that is still make in our own factory
in Vancouver.
The factory we partnered with in China is actually owned by some of our
partner factory owners from Vancouver. It is state of the art and a
beautiful factory. We hold this factory in China and all our factories
world wide to the highest environment, labor and socio-economic
practices."
Dismiss that as marketing if you like. I think their Vancouver factory makes the top of the line stuff now, as it can't handle demand for the rest.
I think Salomon have a lot more to gain from Arc'teryx than the other way around, and if they had any sense they would leave them alone (which is the impression I get). They certainly keep the ownership low key in Arc'teryx's marketing stuff.
