Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Are most snowHeads real skiers?

II, You're very persuasive! Honestly, I loved the bits of Scotland that I've seen (not a huge amount, but a bit) and have eaten very well there too. But you must admit that the descriptions of the nitty-gritty of Scots skiing in this thread are not exactly encouraging, unless you're super-gnarly, which I'm not.

(I spent a week sailing around the Western Isles a very long time ago. It was so-o-o beautiful. September, showers, sunshine and more rainbows than you could shake a stick at. Gorgeous.)

Wow, my 8 year old son (who has been skiing) for 2 years (Glenshee and Cairngorm in all conditions) will be so pleased to know that he is "super-gnarly"!

He has even survived the cooked Scottish breakfast (finest local produce) in the Ptarmigan restaurant Madeye-Smiley

Well, I think I'm a real enthusiastic holiday skier:

I'm interested enough to read the whole of this thread and then comment.

I own some of my own gear and aspire to own skis until 'being sensible' cuts in

I have lessons to improve when on holiday and won't be content until I can ski to my own satisfaction

Skiing is now my major holiday, but I may still only go once each year - though trying to fit in twice next year

I've never been off piste and don't aspire to do so at the moment

I don't visit many pubs or do much apres ski either

I like visiting here most of the year - I can learn stuff to help with the skiing and you're all good fun to chat to - its lonely living in the sticks

I'd be disappointed if I couldn't have a skiing holiday, but it wouldn't be the end of the world - I'd go to a rocky beach in the summer instead

See, I don't fit all the criteria, I'll never be more than a holiday skier, but I enjoy it, being out in the snow, amongst all the beautiful people shooshing down the mountain, esp. in the sun its just a nice place to be, and if I can learn to ski to my own satisfaction so I can get more out of the holiday so much the better.

FenlandSkier, I don't think anyone has a problem with that, it's more the :

"Resort SmallButGnarly is crap, we skied it out in a morning and were totally bored, and all that 3 foot deep powder made the steps up to the bar such a pain. We so much preferred Resort HugeNumberOfIdentikitBlandMotorways, wouldn't look at anywhere with less than 3400 km in future"

... type of mentality that was referred to.

just discovered one of my lines is responsible for starting this thread!!!

But I have no need to respond at length, as this posts sums up perfectly the context in which my text was typed. Thx brian .... Madeye-Smiley

I'm a holiday skier. I go at least once a year but sometimes more. The odd indoor day here in the UK and spend 9 months of the year waterskiing. I also spend a good 30 mins or so each day on various ski websites inc. snowheads, natives, pistehors and skiclub looking at snow reports and a like throughout the year so I'd say I was a realskier its just the realworld prevents me from spending all season on the mountain.

marmalade, maybe that's the difference. Maybe there are those who live to ski, and those who simply love to ski! I love to ski, just simply don't get the chance to ski very often as life gets in the way!
