Have my first flight with 7 month old tomorrow. Relatively short to Munich so 2 hours. Am travelling on own with him. Never flown with him before. Will have bottle, dummies, toys and some food.
Any tips and advice please from seasoned flyers with babies very welcome.

Mouth, really don't know, sorry you could try phoning the help desk - but also the agents in Munich may differ from their own ground staff in Gatwick / Heathrow. Maybe be prepared for the worst??

Seen too many lone parents attempt to make the journey with too many bags

I fondly remember a stopover in Addis Ababa, been 10 hours on the ground, after a flight from London, and both boys (aged 2 and 4) had finally fallen asleep, minutes before we had to board the plane, a long walk across the tarmac, to Nairobi. We were going for a year and had a LOT of hand baggage. Seemed likely to be difficult. We started the walk, with a sleeping boy each, plus bags, only to have the kids gently lifted out of our arms and carried right up to our seats by two charming (and exceptionally good looking) men with lots of gold braid, who turned out to be the pilot and co-pilot of the Ethiopian Airways 747 we were flying in. Can't imagine that happening in many other places, or with many other airlines! they didn't seem to mind that the kids, by this time, were sweaty and sticky. It's nice to be somewhere where people actually like children. It was a hyper cheap flight, too (that's why we were on Ethiopian in the first place). My husband often helps people with pushchairs and kids and things on and off planes, and around railway stations; but mostly people don't seem to bother, it seems. My niece made a difficult train journey with hefty two year old, all the stuff for a weekend, including a pushchair, and got SFA help across the south of England. Hope it goes OK, Mouth. Advice about keeping hand bags to a minimum is good, given that the BA pilot is unlikely to help you carry your stuff!

Mouth, K said she's not busy this weekend and will quite happily come to Munich with you.
(For a fee no doubt!)

Now that's service! I think you're right about people in the South East. I have a friend who used to fly Ryan Air to France to visit her family. When her son was small she'd have him in the buggy which she could wheel up to the plane. Once at the plane steps though no-one ever helped her fold up the buggy whilst she was still having to keep hold of her little boy. When he was 2 he was quite ready to run off! It was free seating and all the other passengers would just pile past her and onto the plane. I've avoided flying no frills airlines with my daughter so far!
Mouth, how did you get on? Hope you're having/had a good weekend.
