Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Transfer Grenoble to Alpes D'Huez

Anyone know of a good transfer contact for the above. We can't go via a shuttle bus as we arrive about 16.30 on a Friday and return at about 6 am the following Sat. I checked out A-T-S and it was £195 each way for the 4 of us, which seems steep.

Michael B, sounds about right to me. You could always hire a car instead.

Michael B, Are you sure the shuttle won't get you there on the Friday? I've last winter's timetable for the airport shuttle and the last was at 17.30 on Fridays. Buses from Grenoble to LDA (ADH ought to be similar) ran right up to 22.15 on Fridays.

For the return Bens Bus run to meet most of the popular flights (Saturdays only), £20 single or £35 return this year.

I think there is a europcar rental in Bourg d'oisans (though couldn't see it on their website). Maybe for the return leg you could do a one way car hire - pick it up late on the Friday and drop it off at the airport on the Saturday. A taxi from Alpe D'Huez to bourg'oisans shouldn't be expensive.

Ray Zorro, I was thinking a taxi may work out cheaper than a prepaid transfer via ATS. It's only about 75 miles to ADH from the airport so £400 for the transfer seems a lot.
I'm not into hiring a car, particularly in Jan. I'll leave the driving to the locals.

Colin B, Bens bus directed me to abcibus.com which immediately brought the price down by about £70 so it can be done. Very Happy

Friday late afternoon and evening surely there are loads of ordinary buses from the station to Alp d'Huez. Not sure you would get one as early as 6am on the Saturday though. More likely about 7.30.
Surely the ordinary local buses can't be as much as £195 for 4 returns!

I normally go out overnight on the ski train and do Chambery to Grenoble early in the morning (about 1 hour, train about every 20 mins). Get there roughly in time for the start of skiing and leave at the end of the final Saturday's skiing.
