Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

London - Alpe d'Huez by train?

Thinking about booking a week in Alpe d'Huez 15-22 March. Is it possible to get there by train?

hd, I think you'll find that Grenoble is the closest TGV station. I've been through the station several times (but only via the adjacent bus terminus) and then connected by bus from Grenoble to the resort (I was usually connecting with Les 2 Alpes or La Grave).

You could also look at Lyon. Maybe there's a direct transfer bus from there to Alpe d'Huez. Lyon airport has a TGV station, and I guess there are connections from the city centre too.

So, look for Paris-Grenoble or Paris-Lyon services. I've a feeling there may be services from Lille too, which would short-circuit the usual Paris connection.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

www.satobus.com tells you about buses from Lyon, though at the moment it's only showing the shuttle service into the city.

www.vfd.fr and www.transisere.fr for information about bus services to/from Grenoble, but at the moment the sites are 'under construction' and telling you very little.

Useful! Laughing

However, as far as I remember there's no direct service from Lyon and you'd have to change in Grenoble anyway. Alternatively, you could buy a seat on someone's transfer coach - there should be plenty at both airports.
