Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Looking to join a group, Late Jan/Feb

Poster: A snowHead
One father, intermediate skier, non smoker/drinker. computer guy. Handy with a frisbee.
One 4 year old daughter, probably also non smoker/drinker.
The mother doesn't plan to fly out this winter and I'd like to join a catered chalet, around Jan/Feb, off school holidays. Seeking the company of families with children of similar ages. location should be a quiet, child friendly resort, e.g. Les Gets, Montgenevre, La Rosiere or Vallandry, with a good English speaking creche and ski lessons in English for the girlie.

Well, Elizabeth B, the thing is, right now, at 3.5 years of age, she doesn't indulge in those activities. However, there are 6 more months till the vacation.

geri, I fixed the message to avoid future misunderstadings. Regarding your question, I assume that if the creche has an amply stocked bar, a teen aged girl should cope with it quite well.

dfl, have you considered something like ski esprit, the family holiday specialist. They do catered chalets and you ought to meet others in exactly the same situation as you. We went with them when ours were little and they made loads of new friends to play with.

I have noted that near the departure time they offer very good discounts for all sorts of family groups (including parent/child) the prices for off-peak holiday weeks were particularly attractive, so if you wanted to do that, it would be worth holding out.

Have you thought of you using a TO like Esprit. We have used them the last 2 winters. Thye will do a great job of looking after your kid but also if you stay in a larger chalet you will meet others?

dfl, adding to the chorus of ski esprit we've been with them twice (once with wife in tow once not) and going again next year. This year I found a room where they offered the child goes free for a "single" parent. I've done this again for next year, whether they have any of these offers left I don't know - being ultra keen booked in June/July time - hey I was saving a good £300 or so! There's loads of threads around about Ski Esprit but in my book the overall deal is excellent.

thanx for the input, ppl
Reading between the lines of the last replies, I'm getting the subtle impression that it might be beneficial for me to contact a company called esprit. I'll give it a shot.

Subtle in the sense that in a catered chalet you will meet others and their childcare is excellent. Its a win/win for you. Happy kid, happy holidays snowHead
