The FIS has frozen its 26 million euro contribution to the event and is actively looking at alternative sites in case Val d'Isere can't deliver.

Well in that story the Schladming people are being pretty diplomatic and saying they won't even talk about taking over the event until Val d'Isere is definitely cancelled. Hans Grogl (organising committee president) did, however, casually mention that Schladming would be able to run a World Championships with one and half year's notice.
Meanwhile, FIS General Secretary Sarah Lewis, who incidentally spent some of her school years at Moutiers and speaks excellent French, will be travelling to France to investigate...
