Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Janet Leigh of 'Psycho', and the ski connection

The 'real' death of Janet Leigh, famously stabbed in a motel shower for the camera of Alfred Hitchcock, was announced yesterday. Interestingly, her movie career owes itself to a skiers' hotel in the early years of US ski resorts, during the 1940s.

Then a teenager, Janet Leigh's photo was spotted in the reception of the hotel, near Reno in Northern California, where her father was working as a receptionist and her mother as a maid. She was invited to the Hollywood studios of MGM.

Maybe Janet Leigh's luck from the skiing link led her to a love for the sport. For one thing she bought a home in Sun Valley, America's first 'destination' ski resort, which she visited for over 30 years. This article by Darlene Arden explains more.

And it seems she also skied in Austria. Her name pops up on the website of Franz Klimmer's ski school in St Anton as a past client.

Here's an obituary of the great Janet Leigh - who claimed that after 'Psycho' she never took another shower in her life - from today's The Times.
