Poster: A snowHead
|
Hi!
I am on PEs and love them, but my family hates the spray.
As I'm going to do the Scope challenge in Utah next year
I was thinking of getting something wider. Has anyone tried the
Coombas yet and if so in what length? (I'm 178/73kg)
Thanks

The rooster tail is not for the benefit of your family its for your sole personal joy
Seemed to be a few Scandi early adopters out later part of the season on Coombas - haven't tried them but definitely wouldn't turn down a go.

I heard they are pretty much the top end apache skis but a special edition for doug.
look into igneous skis (i think thats how you spell it) they are meant to be awesome

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

I think there were some reviews on tgr - have a look there. I dont think they will be super stiff but will be a great powder ski. What about the volkl mantra - that has a fairly flat tail too.

I have only found one comment, that seemed to suggest it was promising.
You're right ,maybe I should demo Mantra as well

dadoo, There was quite a buzz in LG this year about the Coomba... those who skied on them seemed to like them. I have some Chiefs which are the previous version. They're great - not too heavy, good flotation, and quite nimble.

The Mantra is a great ski..there should be reviews here

thanks ski, I know Coombas are replacing the Chiefs
so I'm happy you like them! What are your chiefs like
at speed on piste (not that I want to stay there that much)
and on harder snow?
Thanks

snowHeads are a friendly bunch.

dadoo, er.... dunno Never used them on a piste. I wouldn't expect them to be like a slalom ski, but given the lightness I'm sure they'd be fine. Edge-to-edge wasn't quick, but wasn't unbearably slow either. A lot of the guides on LG seem to use them as a do-it-all ski.

Very light, quite straight so not as all-round as the chiefs. Ace off-piste - super easy to tweak around because if the lack of weight and very floaty, quite hard work on piste even for a larger skier. Suit a touring binding - I tried them with the Dukes.
