Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

MhicEasmuint, I'm not sure that cycling between an ice bath and hot shower will be doing you any good, and may be doing some harm.

Word of caution here . . . if you have ANY blood pressure or related issues DON'T do this. Jumping into a cold water or ice bath can seriously spike your blood pressure as the capillaries close down.

I've been treating Iliotibial Band Syndrome (Runner's Knee) with RICE and stretching, and in particular using ice compression to reduce swelling three times a day - this definately seems to be having the desired effect after going down the hot bath route previously which only seemed to help short term.

Ah I wouldn't know the science behind it but it definately has a benefit after a hard session rather then just having a warm shower. We have done this with a few different coaches.
What would you recommend? Just once in the Ice bath then hot shower?

A study in the British Journal of Sports Medicine now claims iced baths do not do as previously suggested.

Out of 40 volunteers, those who took an icy plunge reported more pain after 24 hours than those who took a tepid bath.
