Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Hi all
Just after a bit of help. Can anyone tell me the sole length of a pair of Salomon Evolution 7 boots (UK shoe size 10.5/11) please? Just bought some new skis and don't have access to my boots to get the measurement to get the bindings mounted.

BruceW, 328mm should be, uk sizes don't help, Mondo size would help to be sure!

BruceW,

I wouldn't know if this is such a simpe assumption (10.5 = 325 or whatever, all models, for example) and on that basis I wouldn't get my bindings mounted unless I was sure.
Hopefully one of the boot specialists might have a definitive answer

What do I know about foot sizing... ?? although now you come to mention it, I do know my boots are 325mm.... but that did take your refresher to get there... wink

325! Do you need skis JT? wink

Thanks though. I'd not heard of "mondo" sizes before. I found good tables here http://www.snowshack.com/skiboot-sizing.html and here http://www.rei.com/outlet/learn/footwear/chcorrectsize.html. So would it make a huge difference mounting at 29 or 29.5? Would there be enough adjustment to get the boot central?

BruceW, a 29 & 29.5 share the same sole length - the .5 version has a bit more volume, usually obtained by using a slightly thinner liner in the same shell.

unless of course you are dealing with a pair of Atomic B tech boots then 28.5 and 29 are the same size ....29.5 and 30 etc etc wink

SMALLZOOKEEPER, unless they have changed for the comming season, the B tech boots size split is a half size early

which is a perfectly good reason only to stock them in the whole size ie 26, 27, 28 etc etc

then it doesn't affect things, but i can assure you 28,5 in that boot is the same length as a 29

So can anyone tell me what the sole length would be for a mondo size of 29/29.5 or is it just too dependent on the manufacturer/model to say?

So if you're just off somewhere snowy come back and post a snow report of your own and we'll all love you very much

 You know it makes sense.

BruceW, Even within a manufactuers range of models the sole length will vary from model to model. depending which last they have used.

For Salomon a MP of 29/29.5 will give you sole lengths of 335, 336, 337 339 depending which boot (XWave, Falcon, SPK, Symbio! etc.)

Otherwise you'll just go on seeing the one name:

BruceW, I had the same thing with my Lange boots yesterday and after an hour of looking for my receipts etc. found that the mm size was stamped on the side Embarassed perhaps it is moulded somewhere on your salomons?

Thanks SZK, I'll give them this info and hope it works - it's only EUR8 extra so if it's wrong I assume (after reading another thread) that I can get the bindings repositioned and have the old holes filled. They're brand new Rossignol skis so it should be okay.
