Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Kimberley Joines (Canada), an alpine ski racer, tested positive for a Prohibited Substance and was given a sanction of 9 months ineligibility today by the International Paralympic Committee (IPC). Joines tested positive for carboxylic acid metabolite of delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol at the 2007 IPC Alpine Skiing World Cup in Aspen, USA, on 17 January 2007. The substance is included in the 2007 Prohibited List and consequently prohibited under the IPC Anti-Doping Code, which has adopted the World Anti-Doping Code....According to the IPC Anti-Doping Code, all individual results obtained at the 2007 IPC Alpine Skiing World Cup and thereafter 'shall be disqualified'. This includes the forfeit of any medals, points and prizes.

Joines recorded a gold medal in Super G on January 17 in Aspen, a 5th place in Slalom in Arte Therme, Italy on March 12, and a 6th place in Giant Slalom the following day. Joines took home the bronze medal from the Super G in Arte Therme on March 14. She ended up in 6th place overall on the 2007 World Cup, ranked third in Super G, 5th in Slalom and 6th in Giant Slalom.

That's sounds a bit complicated Shocked

But does the "tetrahydrocannabinol" bit of it, imply that it all boils down to the fact that she'd had a spliff and it was still in her blood? Or is this some new Frankenstein type performance enhancing derivative produced by mad scientists on skunk in a Dutch Laboratory?

admin, following on from the other thread, and given my position on another UK forum, then perhaps you are referring to our old friend at Winter Park...

Mr Lizzard, she might have been taking it for pain relief.

Or possibly she was getting too low in the turns, and this was to help her get high...

morons absolutely no point having weed in a controlled substance list for sport.

Waste of time testing for it.

plectrum, I think they test for all the recreational pharmaceuticals as a matter of course. Any winner is seen to be a role model and taking illegal substances then "brings the sport into disrepute" in their opinion. Stuffy old farts, the lot of them. rolling eyes

If it adversely affected her performance and she still won she should get an extra medal. Possibly pinned a little higher. Smile
