Depends what you want to spend mate and how far out of town is a concern.
On a budget The Bruxelles has an excellent reputation. Further up the budget try any of the "Sport" hotels. I have stayed at two of these any you wont go wrong.

Stayed in sport village in March 07 and room was excellent (huge and worth paying extra for suite), if a bit warm at night.
Good food (buffet for brekkie and dinner) and loads of space in hotel. Drink quite pricey, but suppose its no worse than other places.
Location for lifts was perfect (right above gondola) and free ski lockers right outside hotel door.
Expensive, but I'd say worth it, but might be worth looking for a place that caters for kids a bit more. We've got a 3 yo girl and very few other kids to play with. But loads of space for her run about and play hide and seek.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

jase2472, stayed at Sport Village, great food and good bar in evening, rooms are warm but a good size and friends in the SPort and they liked that too. Some see the Sport as expensive, but when you consider the quantity and quality of food. grat location too
Have stayed inteh the Piolets a few years back and would not go back - largely due to poor food.

Mid budget is the 4 star euroski- loved it. 5 mins from el tarter by free hotel bus or 10 mins from soldeu (both are linked). lovely room, good enough food(great breakfast) and an excellent pool etc. Both resorts were so good we,ve already booked for next year. Only down side is taxis which are virtually non existent. The best board/ski school ever.
As rob and sharon have said the sport hotels are fantastic( very upmarket ) and are opposite the gondola and more importantly 2 seconds from the bars! T-bar is a lovely joint and loaded board shop is a must. Very good live music bar is the Aspen late at night.
