Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Extreme après-ski

At the lower end of the Tarentaise Valley, Valmorel's marketing team have come up with some offers to tempt holidaymakers with "extreme après-ski". If hurtling down the blacks isn't enough during the day, you can also try your luck as a microlight passenger, airboarding, or even overnight igloo stays............

If you don't know what airboarding is, this photo will give you the general idea..... Invented in Switzerland, you basically hurtle down a slope on a kind of body board. Turning is achieved by shifting your weight around, stopping by sliding sideways on. The current world record is held by Thomas Kaules of Germany who managed 78.38 mph during the European X Games in Austria last February. Must have taken some stopping.

Slightly less hair-raising is the "Snake Gliss", a kind of collective articulated sledge...

Mountain guides are offering avalanche courses to weekly tourists...

A more sedate form of 'fun' can be had by spending the night in the igloo village for just 15 euros, or dinner, bed and breakfast for 40 euros (children 15 euros).

Sounds as if at least one French resort is being a little more proactive in its marketing approach...
