Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

I'm not sure I'll be skiing any more this season so I had a day of storage waxing... Here's the final head count for 2006/7:

Mine: Volkl V-Pros 190, Faction Thirteens 191, Line Prophet 130s 186, Volkl Explosive (retired this winter) & Volkl V-Pros (they may get my AT bindings as I have skins that fit my tele V-Pros).
Mrs P: Dynastar Marie de Neige 165, K2 PEs 164 & K2 Phat Luvs 168

I'm going to mount the Prophets with tele bindings next winter. For sale: Marker Comp 1800s & Naxo 21s...

I'd bid you for the Expolsivs if I hadn't already got my Volkls724, Fischers Big Stix 86, Atomic Sugar Daddies and Atomic Powder Plus'...and if she didn't have Volkl 724, Atomis ReX and new Salomon Guns, and if he didn't have Armada AR6 and Scott Mission, and if she didn't have Head Mojo.

Oh my God! How many pairs have we got???

By the way...Parlor...give me a call!

Observations of the novice.......What a variety of bindings! The green ones look so wide are they the big skis that folks use for the off piste powder? None of them look as 'waisted' as the ones I've been learning on even Mrs P's. Is there something special about the bindings on the left hand two sets - they look different? Is there any significance to the shape of the front of the ski - some are more pointed than others?

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

rungsp, we should open a hire shop... will talk soon.

boredsurfin, better than we could have hoped for. full review in the next month or so. searching hard for a property for next winter... Evil or Very Mad

Megamum, The two bindings on the left are telemark binding, they are both slightly different but you can see the cables that allow you to free your heal when you make a turn.

I ski long and fat skis because I like to ski variable terrain Wink Mainly as far away from the piste as possible. We ski "less waisted" or in ski-ish skis with "less sidecut" or big "turn radius". Sometimes I prefer not to make turns, these skis let me do that. Actually the big green skis, which are redunckulus, have an 18m turn radius (152-130-142), which is very similar to skis you will have skied on. They are amazing fun and carve very well, but not for the faint knee'd. These skis are a huge contrast to the skis with the Wizards on, which have a 40m turn radius.

With regard to shape it's just a fashion thing how the tip shapes look. The recent fad is for very round low tips, the more pointed skis in the photo SO last season. Laughing

Smokin Joe, I thank you.

If you fancy opening a hire shop you should learn the difference between 'turn radius' & 'ski radius'. Confused

No you haven't - you've quoted the sidecut radius. The turn radius will be pretty much whatever you want it to be based on edge angle and amount of bend in the ski.

GrahamN, same jam, different flavour butter. I was just explaining the difference to Megamum in the 'shape' of the skis. Sidecut, turns, both of these words make me sick. Wink
