Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Repairing torn ski pants

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
As the title suggests I've torn my ski pants at the bottom of the leg, the problem is that the tear is bigger than the waterproof patches you can buy.

Does anyone know where I could get larger patches or another DIY repair method? The tear is L shaped and about 10cm up and 4cm across

I tried the gaffer while I was skiing and it just gradually peeled off

Duct tape is the job. When you put on the tape make sure that the trousers is fully dry. Run a cigarette lighter over the tape for a few seconds to fuse it a wee bit into the fabrtic of the trousers. Works a treat - I know as I have tape on both my ski trousers and never have a problem with it falling off.

5stitches, I spent over an hour this weekend carefully stitching an 'L' shaped tear in my ski pants. I tried duct tape too, but it didn't last and these ski pants are new this year so I don't want them to look worn out yet. If I'd known about this stuff I'd have bought some and saved myself the hassle.

There is a company up in Newcastle which carries out repairs - they came recommended by Lockwoods. They are called Tundra (www.tundra-repairs.co.uk) and they will repair whole panels and retape seams etc.

They did a new press stud for me a while ago and turned it round within a few days for just a few pounds.

Well worth a look

Had mine repaired by Lancashire sports repairs 01282 439109. Cost £35- much cheaper than a new pair of salopettes.
