any recommendation for buying the cheapest and smallest iron forn waxing my board, any travel iron would do I suppose, or are there cheap specific 'ski' type irons available

try a toko wax mouse, i tried a cheap travel iron, but the temp control is not good enough. the wax mouse is simple and i take it away with me as its small. they often appear on ebay.

I will PM Spyderjon but as an aside I just noticed on M&S shopping website that they have a travel iron with collaspable handle for a fiver !! no idea as to watts though

rayscoops, that's the sort of thing I use, no idea of the make though. One thing that may be useful is a 110V switch for taking it to the US or Canada. Just remember to switch it back before using it in UK/Europe again

I got a small iron from Spyderjon, I finally got sick of the little travel iron spending 30 secs hot then the thermostat going off and it doing 5 mins on cold

rayscoops, I also have a toko mouse, it heats up quickly and is much better and quicker than the assortment of domestic irons I suffered with. Cost 40 swiss francs in Davos close to end of season.

balernoStu, I will remeber that one ! I was bored in Zurich airport so bought a little travel iron there for SF 29. Hopefully it will be ok because i only have one (my) board to wax for a 4 or so trips a year.
