Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Please help - do some skis have a specific Left and Right?

Thanks for all the info - there's a lot to learn when as a beginner your view is a ski is a ski is a ski...........

Well, the bottom line is this - precisely what these skis are, I guess matters less than the fact that I seem to get on with them very well - used them once at Cas and today at Tamworth - both occasions I felt in control and did pretty well and am now looking forward to using them in Tignes Madeye-Smiley

What will be interesting is to see how the normal rental ones feel in comparison - just got an inkling I might not want to give these back to their owner!!

NewSkier, when you get a chance, have a look at the sidecut numbers for tip/waist/tail: they'd be printed on the ski.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

That's right, that's exactly as you see it, and I don't know about you, but I wonder how good you have to get before you realise that the different shapes DO make a difference to turning, speed etc. The only thing I've definitely noted is that skiing on todays short skis - mine were 154cm to my 174cm height, seems substantially easier to skiing on the ones I hired 10+ yrs ago. Beyond that I don't think I ski well enough to notice a difference. It will be interesting to see what I get given ('cos I sure as anything won't know what to ask for - unless any one experienced there has a suggestion) and whether I think they feel different to the Volkl G3 Slalom ones I got on holiday

Megamum, In general shorter skis will be faster to turn and thus more manoverable whilst longer skis are faster and usually more stable at speed
