Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Big cheap(er) supermarkets near Val Thorens??

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Am catering for a group of 9 (hungry!) 17-18 year olds for a week in Val Thorens (plus two hungry teachers!) and am mindful of how much it may cost to use the resort supermarket. Was wondering if there were any much cheaper options within 1-1 and a half hours of VT where I could stock up for the week. Yes, I know, I will be wasting valuable skiing time by doingo so but the old muscles probably can't take more than a few hours a day anyway! Any advice greatly appreciated.

liam71, cheapest is probably Geant in Albertville, about 1 - 1.25 hours away. Go past the Albertville turnoff and it's on the right. Otherwise there's the Champion in Moutiers which is smaller but perfecty good.

Or the is the Large supermarket complex just at Chambery. A little further but larger than Moutiers.
But Moutier has a Lidl, Chambery doesn't.

Would that be called METRO (the cash and carry)? I am driving up to the EoSB and am on the look out for a Metro as I have their card and it could be a very good beer/wine and sherry (don't ask) source.

Does the trip to Moutiers really justify the savings when looking at the round trip? I suppose it could, but only if you passed through in your own transport on the way or really wanted a morning out of resort.

Were I in charge of catering it would be a case of off to Sherpa for a pasta-heavy menu!
