Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

What would you have done to the woman when you reached the top?

Had words, some of which might be loud and possibly recognized by speakers of other languages. A fat ESF instructor once pushed my girlfriend out of the queue just as we were about to get on a chair (also in Les Arcs). I'm not sure what he thought he was doing, but we "had words" for the entire duration of the ride up the chairlift.

AxsMan, One option would have been to take her to one side for a stern talking to. Then when it escalated stab her husband in the throat with a ski pole. Then shout at her while gesticulating wildly. Then deck her. When she comes to she is dangling from a cable car by one ankle... she should have learnt some manners by then Twisted Evil

Well we decided against 'words' as I was a bit too annoyed and could see it escalating very much as described by Scarpa, Shocked .

So instead I unleashed the 'heat seeking Axettes' who were thirsty for blood. We let her get ahead of us then #1 and #3 (the Snowboarder) set off after her and 'buzzed' her mercilesslly down the cat-track that we were following. No physical contact of course, but lots of cutting across and pulling up sharply. Childish?, probably, Dangerous? not really, it was all low speed stuff, satisfying to watch? - hugely Twisted Evil

Her in-queue stroppiness was nothing compared to her annoyance at being baulked and carved up on the piste. Once she had got the message, and her face had turned the same colour as her purple jump suit, we deemed that honour was even.

I still think it was a particularly nasty act to try and click open someones binding, just as they are getting on a lift. She must have been abused as a child. Evil or Very Mad

It's something I've often seen done to uppity brats who have just barged their elders in a queue. Not saying that your offspring answer this description.

Lizzard, Yes I could see (some) justification if Axsette#2 had been pushing in, but she was lined up alongside the rest of us and just moving forward with the queue. the woman was trying to hold her back and prevent her staying with us, which didn't make any sense at all Puzzled Anyway, it gave us something to laugh about later Laughing

Not just nasty, but potentially dangerous as well. I think you were very restrained in not having words, although I don't think I'd advocate buzzing people on the piste no matter how much they deserved it.

rob@rar, No I don't think it was wise. It was however very satisfying, Twisted Evil Very Happy (and possibly less likely to have consequences than impaling her on my pole (steady Scarpa, Toofy Grin ) which was my first thought Twisted Evil

Cedric, never said causing accidents was cool, but the idea of someone chasing after me if i did, to inflict some sort of summary justice is extremely laughable.
If someone crashed into my wife or my kids and just skiied off, providing I they were being looked after then I would chase after them and restrain them. if they didnt want to await the arrival of the piste patrol then i would make them stay.

Yup - if you are involved in an accident then stay and help out/give statement etc. If you hit and run then basically you deserve vigilante style justice. We all have a moral responsibility to do the right thing. Now I am not saying that chasing after someone is the right thing... but Puzzled

Or even just to offer an apology if you were responsible for the accident. Nothing more than common courtesy really, and if you're not prepared to offer that to fellow slope users then you deserve whatever comes your way as far as I'm concerned.

rob@rar, I really saw my backside the other week after a flat bed truck didn't indicate and changed lanes whilst I was in it's blind spot in city traffic. After managing to accelerate past by the skin of my teeth (and in a speed camera zone) and almost being pushed into the kerb I saw red and pulled in front of it at the lights, shaking my fist and ready to drag the 2 ******s out of the cab (they would have probably slaughtered me in real life but I was just sooo mad after almost being squashed) when the guy driving held his hand up and mouthed 'sorry'. I shook my head and waved thanks and rode off. A little apology can defuse a tense situation.

In sierra nevada the other month when me and the better half was on a chair lift watching a young lad of about 6/7 yerars coming out of control down the slopes his dad shouting behind him to turn or fall over , then you could see it coming in slow motion, he was heading for a young girl of similar age Sad he hit her with some force spinning her of her feet a full 360 degrees then them both landing in a heap on the floor. the girl broke her leg and the boy was only winded but you could see in his face the upset and pain, the poor girl was crying her eyes out Sad , i felt very sorry for them as we have a daughter who will be skiing next year and it just makes you think.

Then the same day this peni5 coming down the slopes clearly out of control heading for a group of girls trying to steer out of the way but at the last minute hit a little bump and took on of the girls out at knee height, ouch, god knows how but she was ok only bruised apparantley he broke his arm landing Laughing some people need banning from the slopes or made to sit some kind of test before they are allowed on there own snowHead
thats my rant for the day over rolling eyes

JASE2472: I just read your post about the Sierra Nevada--it confirms my decision not to go there again--- far too many incompetent skiers (racing across, down, all over the place!)) on the slopes where one has to begin any run---It is VERY different to how I'd remembered it from years ago-- when it was a lovely small resort. It is still much the same size but far too crowded. I understand they now try to control the numbers, by selling only a limited number of skipasses daily, but...this doesn't seem to limit the frequency of collisions....
(I was hit by someone in this resort in February this year-- only just recovered from rib injuries) Sad
