Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

P20 suncream?

Has anyone used said cream for skiing? The blurb says it can be applied once and provide protection all day, just wondered if the claims were true!!

Cheers,

Greg

kitenski, Yes, the claims are true! We used P20 for a long time....but I did find it dries up the skin. We now use Piz Buin (sp?) once a day stuff which works just as well but leaves my skin feeling fine even after a whole day in the sun....I have pale skin which turns a lovely shade of lobster if unprotected, if they work for me they should protect anyone! It's so easy to forget to keep rubbing sunscreen in...I'm a real fan of the once a day stuff.

I've been using Boots own brand (Soltan) "Once" all this season. It's factor 40 and does a good job for me.

I turn lobster pink at the first sign of sun and I second homphomp's recommendation for the piz buin 1 day long. You can usually find a decent range of the stuff in supermarkets for reasonable prices.

kitenski,

I used this suncream in St Lucia 7 years back, it works for some but not for others.
After buring in the sun, spent the second half of the week in long sleeved shirts with high collars trying to avoid the sun. I felt like a vampire not wanting to go out in the daylight.

Just a word of warning...I'd been using P20 for quite a while - you do only have to put it on once a day which I thought was great..basically you put it on about half an hour before you go into the sun and the silicone in the cream/gel forms a layer on your skin which protects you from getting burnt. The only problem is, although it blocks out the rays that get you burnt, it doesn't block out the rays that can cause skin damage...I can't remember which way round it is UVA or UVB. I think P20 is banned in quite a few countries because of this and I was pretty freaked out that you could buy something that is potentially so dangerous. Mad

I may have got some of the above muddled, but that is the gist of it...

I go for the kids factor 45 - you only need a couple of applications for a whole day in bright sun.

3 weeks after returning from Whistler, my friends are still pointing at my goggle tan and laughing. rolling eyes
It appears my factor 50+ (Piz Buin) either rubbed off or has no protection against windburn.

Phooey!
