I saw this the other day, looking at them in a local ski shop. I decided it was just a bit of useless ornamentation.... Am thinking of getting some but they're too expensive locally.

boredsurfin, thanks, that's a big saving on the Snow and Rock sale price. What length did you get for your wife? I'm dithering. I hired some Volkl supersports in 165 last week, and they felt good, so am thinking of getting the 160. My current Volkl EXS are 156.

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

boredsurfin, but how much does she weigh? I'm 10 stone. I'd be interested to know what lengths others have in those skis. I did actually feel more stable on the longer skis and although I didn't consciously ski any faster my husband said I was in fact going a lot faster (he can almost keep up when I'm on my usual skis!)

pam w, I got a pair for my wife from Sport Conrad - good price, excellent service. She's around 10st and 5ft 7, intermediate skier. We got the 154s, which actually measure 157 tip to tail, and she's delighted with them.
