Poster: A snowHead

Hi,
I've never been to les arc and am not sure what is cheapest way to get there. I have seen flights to geneva for £80 but am not sure what to do about the transfer. Any ideas welcomed! I have looked at the bus and it looks like its at least 99 euros. Is this the cheapest there is??
Thanks,
Wendy

wend, yes - unless you're willing to try blagging a lift with a tour operator bus.
Welcome to snowHeads!

wend, Welcome to snowheads.
You can take the train from Geneva to Bourg St Maurice, which involves a couple of changes, but very simple, the return ticket costs about £50 if i remember correctly. Provided you have your lift pass, you can then take the funiculare up the mountain, and catch one of the interlinkinng buses to 1800

Thanks for the tips guys!
I am leaving my own tips just in case they will be useful to others travelling alone. I'm either going to take the train (it even leaves early enough for my 11am flight from geneva!) or the public bus not sure which yet am mulling it over.
The train costs just £55, and although it involves a few changes it's worth considering see
http://www.sbb.ch/en/ . You get dropped off in bourge st maurice and then it's a 15 min ride up the mountain on the funicular thingy (7 euros).
The bus is slightly more expensive but door to door see www.altski-bus.com a return ticket is £78.
I also stumbled across another cheap transfer company - if they happen to have something going at your dates and times it's just £20 each way see www.mountainsultd.com/airporttransport/transfers.htm
Cheers,
Wendy

wend, I am flying into Chambery, getting a taxi from the airport to the main station and then a direct train to BSM, then up the funicular (unless my brother-in-law is kind enough to come and pick me up in the Landy). Because I'm arriving on a Thursday and leaving on a Monday, the cost of transfers by bus or private car is prohibitive.
