Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Ski resorts near Nice

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
A friend of mine is off to the Nice area in 2 weeks and is looking to incorporate a 1-2 day trip to a ski resort (after many years off with small children). She is taking the children, aged 4 and 6 with her.

The closest and most obvious resort that I could find was Isola 2000, but does anyone else have any other advice/suggestions?

I believe that I read some not terribly fantastic reports about Isola or was I imagining it?

Nick L, I doubt if you imagined it. I've not been, but have heard a few negative reports about it too. From what I remember, due to lack of snow, and a lot of people coming up from Nice!

Nick L, Well it snowed there last night/today and I intend going up to Isola on Friday if I can.

Your choice of larger resorts is Isola, Auron and Valberg or Limone if she fancied a trek. I haven't been to Auron for a while but Diarmuid says that Isola was in much better condition 2 weeks ago when he boarded Auron. Auron is seen more of a 'Dude's' boarder hang-out although it is the oldest of the resorts.

All resorts are about 1 1/2 hours from Nice and reasonably easy to access- depends where she's staying of course. I would avoid the weekends if she can.

Given as she has little ones with her I would reccomend Valberg as the kids will be able to play on the lower 'village' I can g slopes ( subject to snow) and it is a real village. Isola is purpose-built but as I don't have young kids the facilities may be great. As it is only a 1-day trip she may prefer Greolieres which is even closer but hardly a ski resort, more of something to do for the odd day or two.

If there is any other advice required please ask .. hotels etc ...
