I managed to get to Aosta in 2hrs and 10mins from Bergamo airport, but it was a clear run. Pila is just above there. Pretty easy driving, but I drove further to La Thuile which was another 40 clicks

Hi skitrish,
I've been looking for the same and in the end decided to go by car to switzerland. But from the airport there are straight buses (check ryanair website, coaches from bergamo go straight to selva and ortisei)to the val gardena area. The area should be high enough for still having nice snow end of march and otherwise there is always the marmolada glacier. I've never been there, but reports from others say it is a wonderful area, with loads of pistes and nice atmosphere and the dolomites seem to be extremely beautiful...
Good luck

Try Madesimo just on the two hour mark, plenty of piste for your needs.

I'm flying into Milan tomorrow from the US and driving up to Alagna in Montrerosa. Gressoney is the central valley there and will probably best suit your needs. It's a big area, good for both intermediate and advanced. Cervinia, nearer Aosta, is also a good bet. It's slope linked to Zermatt, which takes a little travelling about, but with the link both intermediates and advanced skiers have plenty. Andermatt, in Switzerland, is a straight shot up from Milan, up on top of the St. Gotthard Pass. There's good skiing around there too, especially with the local ski train linking up several places in the immediate area. If you are driving, Engelberg is a easy drive from Andermatt, also a great place.
