Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Tignes - please help with info for novice :)

I have a chance to go for a late short break but am not yet sure precisely where apart from T area - I don't want to waste precious time there trying to find out what I need to know, so please can folks give me any info? I'm a definite novice not total beginner, but stuck on snowploughs as yet and not terribly confident. I see the websites say there are free novice lifts but they don't give any info about them at all such as location, length etc - anyone know? Also there appear to be quite a few 'green' runs - can anyone tell me what these are like and where they are? Is it possible to get lessons for short breaks or only for week-long courses? Puzzled

NewSkier, Tignes is a long way to go for a short break for a novice skier. Have you considered any resorts that are nearer to the airports. Lessons are available in virtually any format and I am sure you would benefit hugely from 1-2 hour private lessons. You should find a huge benefit from such lessons. Ski schools websites are usually linked from the resort websites.

It will be Tignes because a friend (an experienced skier) has been offered a good deal on a break there and asked if in principle I'd like to go too - I don't have any details yet, but said yes immediately! I didn't think I'd be getting a second trip this year, so am really excited at the prospect!

NewSkier, PM stewart woodward here. He's an instructor based in Tignes & I'm sure will help you if he can. I'd also recommend him for lessons - great fun, very energetic and will really bring you on Little Angel

Tignes was my second ever skiing holiday.
Absolutely adored the Grattalu piste (and lift) a lovely, wide, quiet, straightish slope - gave me great confidence

NewSkier,

Free lifts are located in Val Claret (Bollin Chair + Claret poma), Le Lac (Rosset chair) & Le Lavachet (Lavachet poma). After you have gained some confidence you can progress to lots of easy greens & blues. I would recommend taking the Palafour lift & skiing the blues.

Once you are ready to progress buy a lift pass for Tignes not Espace killy as this will be cheaper.

Lessons are available to suit you.

If you need any more info pm me.
