Helen Beaumont, why are you bothering to come out? Everyone knows there is no snow!

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

chris, oh, sorry, I'd forgotten. Oh well, I can always enjoy the hot springs, beautiful scenery, or hire a bike for a trip along the Val de Clarée instead.

I was obssessed with the Italian Milky Way, as I have never been there, when I stayed 4 days in Briancon last week. I managed only one day to ski Serre Chevalier (also my first time).
There wasn't any possibility to ski down to the Briancon Prorel godola station but above 1624m every run seemed to be OK. We ventured as far as La Cucumelle and missed out only the last Le Monetier Les Bains area. The skiing condition was perfect certainly at the top level.
I think there will be plenty area to ski in Serre Chevalier in end of April and the property prices there looking pretty quite appealing too.
Meals and accommodation are dirt cheap there. We stayed in Mercure hotel for 59 Euro per twin room. The 3-course dinner inside the hotel costs 19 Euro. That was beaten by the next door Cafeteria of Geant offering a 6 items dinner for 12 Euro (bread, soft drink, starter, main disk, desert and a coffee!).
The wife and I each even bought a new pair of boots and skis at 30% discourt in the sport shop there for a total of 980 Euro.
