Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Skiing on TV?

I remember last season C4 did a good job over covering the downhills, but the scheduling was ridiculous (v. late and/or v.early.

Anyone know what the story is for this season? Do C4 still have the rights? Will it be at 1 in the morning again?

Very good question. It's at times like this that snowHeads could use a team of crack investigative journalists.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

the schedule was excellent, just on as I was leaving the house to go skiing in the morning, quite excellent over the cornflakes, then leave the VCR running as I leave and watch the reminder with a cup of tea when I got home, just perfect.

David, do you know any crack investigative journalists, perchance?

I don't even know Hazel Irvine, but I've no doubt that her beautiful smile and intelligent presentation will win it back for the Beeb.

ise has the answer. Don't worry about the schedule, move to the Alps.

Try Eurosport's coverage. They showed a lot of the races live last year so they were on at a pretty convenient time Saturday mornings.

Unfortunately, Eurosports coverage last season was poor in comparison to previous years. There were many comments on their message board complaining about this.
In Fact, there were races shown on French Eurosport that were not shown in the UK.
The bbc's coverage is very few and far between leaving channel 4's as probably the best even if the timings aren't ideal and they show british athletes.

I wonder if many of you have a TiVo? It is very helpful recording things that come round from time to time. You just set up a Wishlist for keywords like "skiing" and "downhill", and it'll record things as and when they appear. This works well for the C4 coverage, slightly less well for Eurosport, whose schedules seem to be frequently changed, too late for the EPG to be updated.

Tivo can be a bit quirky with keywords that are a little too vague, last year skiing got several hits on Pingu on the children's channel.

the other option is sky plus once you find a ski program thats on press series link and it records all the programs in that series

ise, Exactly what I was thinking when you first mentioned VCRs. I've got a Sony "Smart Engine", but the sales guy forgot to mention that it needed a smart owner. Sad

I believe Ch 4 still have the rights to most (maybe all) of the Alpine World Cup this season, and the Beeb will have the 05 Worlds at Bormio. I did hear somewhere that Eurosport lost the rights to any WC races taking place in Austria last season.

Shame. I say Hazel Irvine should present an amusing Beeb series on the eccentricities and challenges of Scottish skiing, with Martin Bell doing the radical descents.
