Poster: A snowHead
|
Morning guys,
OK, here's the deal - I bought Mrs IMT some very nice North Face sunnies before crimbo, but she managed to lose them whilst skiing a few weeks ago. She decided to have a look on ebay to buy some more and a few days later they turned up.
Now the guy that was selling them says that they are 100% genuine, however I'm not so sure - the lenses just seem rubbish, really grey and flat looking as you look through them, not nice and bright like the other North Face ones that I have and the ones that she lost. BTW, they were about 50% of RRP.
I have no problem with sending them back and the guy has said he will refund, but my question is this - we are off to Chamonix/Agentiere for Easter, would I be better of buying some more here (via reputable website - suggestions?) or would I get a better deal in France?
Thanks in advance.
IMT

www.the-eye-shop.com is the website of the place in Chamonix which probably has the biggest range of sunglasses etc so you can do a price comparison on there

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

I'd be suspicious of any north face items on Ebay.
Got stung myself eventhough all of the seller credentials seemed ok.
North Face cloaning is a huge industry.

IMT,
I always buy eye wear in resort so you test the light - particuarly flat light - first hand. If you pay a bit more then at least you know you have the ones to do the job

IMT, There are quite a few North Face womens sunglasses in TKmaxx at the moment. I am fairly sure that branded stuff in there is genuine. They had some smart looking ones too. they were £19.99

I got a pair of North Face sunnies in TKMAXX on Saturday. £19.99 reduced from £85. I think they were labelled as last seasons. Who cares!

I bought some North Face goggles and they were rubbish. You can't always judge by the name!

Wow - a year old thread comes back to life!
BTW - the genuine ones she lost were from TKMaxx, only about £20-25 so not a huge problem money wise, just a shame to lose them as they were so nice.
Chris Bish, not tried the goggles, use Smith or Oakley, but the sunnies are top drawer IMV.

I like my Alpinas, but they do make the rocks look like they are copper-bearing!
