Poster: A snowHead

I am sure that the answer to this will be "Spyderjon will be along shortly"
This is my dream ski and have been hiring them for several trips, while looking at second-hand, Ebay, etc.
However, I was in my local shop and found that they had a pair, right size, decent price (20% off), but what I would describe as a slight ding in the ptex, just in from the edge and around 30 cm from the front tip.
Shop specialist says that its not damage, its a flawed manufacture, but that it will not affect performance or cause the ski future problems. The surrounding ptex is not rucked up or distorted and there is no deformation of the edge itself. Its close to the front of the ski, so should not be noticeable.
Its about 1.5mm by 4mm and, at a guess, 0.3mm deep. Chap says first service will probably skim it out. My concern is that, if the ptex layer is incomplete, moisture could ingress. Chap says its too small to even try to fill.
Nevertheless, more money has been offered off (probably 30% overall).
It seems like the sort of scratch I could pick up on day one (especially this year ), but is this something I should walk away from? If its going to go wrong, would it happen within a year (for warranty, etc)?
Any help or pointers gratefully accepted

sproggski, So long as the price is right buy 'em. Cant see anything that small being a problem. (However, you will get a more informed opinion off Spyder Jon!!)

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

For 30% off then buy them. The shop will still warranty them anyway, and they're certainly not going to suffer moisture ingress. If you don't want them I know someone who will!

Not a ski that I would buy but if you want them and you like the price..and they say the ding is nothing, then make it conditional that you'll be back if the ding causes problems.
Without seeing it, I am thinking that a service will sort this out so it will recede in time and its not likely to cause any skiing issues. As long as the edges are unaffected

spyderjon, hoped you would be along before the shops open again. Thanks for the second opinions everyone; its good to have something to reinforce my somewhat groundless impressions and theories.
Guy in the shopn was great - I just needed to hear the same from someone who wasn't selling them. I shall name and praise when the deal is done!

I'd go for it. It's much maligned, but the B2 is a good alround ski.

Picked up skis yesterday. Although not using them till next week, I am very happy with the deal and the way I have been looked after. Admittedly, I did not go in blind, I pretty much knew what I wanted.
Nevertheless, thanks to Alan at Attwoolls near Gloucester. Its not a specialist place, being for camping and marquees as well, but credit where credit's due.
