Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Crazy video of a 2 minute descent of the Bellevarde at Val d'Isere, you won't see anything but a blur, pass the sick bag!

That is seriously irresponsible to ski so quickly down Bellevarde, with other people on the run also. It can be very icy, with skiers who really should'nt be on it, skiing it. Falls are common.

davidof, given that Ortlieb found Olympic gold with a time of 1:50:37 on a prepared course - without a rest stop half way down (as seen on the video) - do we not think this might smell slightly hoaxy? (This video lasts 2:06:~...............)

Mix in dodgy video, speeded well up (note that many fellow riders on the slope are keeping up with our "crazy" guy or indeed riding faster than him) plu sany sort of skiing soundtrack and we have the classic goglevid/youtube hoax.

No-one could ski that run at world cup speeds and not kill a passer by.

Doh, it's been a long day. Yep, well speeded up on the wobbly bits, but still too quick to ski with other people on the run.

DM,
My thoughts exactly...the guys in front stay in frame too long for the skier-cam to be going that quick....

And I was there when Ortlieb won that day.... those guy's thighs are massive...

A few years back ntfarmer took me down there, only telling me afterwards which slope it was, I thought at the time it was a bit beyond me! Confused

Get real. rolling eyes
Going faster than other people doesn't necessarily mean being out of control Evil or Very Mad - and it is a (not particularly tricky) black run after all.

Agree that it is not a two minute run the way that was skied, lots of turning, not really flying past the other people, etc, etc

Blatantly speeded up - he/she stops three times to have a look round! Pretty crap quality as well.

As for difficulty, I tried it as a 2nd weeker years ago (shouldn't really have been there) and slid down a fair way on my ass/face. I then did it this January on mini-skis and thought it was a doddle. So it all depends on your experience I guess. I think they maintain it more often nowadays, they used to groom it only every 3rd night.
