IIRC from school geoggers, the mid west of the USA is characterised by being as flat as a pancake under a steam roller.

as noted......the midwest is certainly not a hotbed of destination resorts in the usa. i would hazard a guess that boyne mountain in michigan is the largest resort with the most vert, however, it is merely a guess.
why the midwest? why not the west?

Does the peninsula between the lakes north of Chicago count? Snowhot comes from around there and there are a large number of ski resorts...

Hoppo, it's called Michigan: which has a 'lower peninsula' between lakes Michigan and Huron and an 'upper peninsula' between lakes Michigan and Superior. Oh, and it counts as the Mid-West. Definitions vary, but the northern half of the area between the Appalachians and the Rocky Mtn states would be a fairly wide definition.
