Does anyone know any stores that do bundles and hence offer a good price?
I see facewest.co.uk do bundles, and telemark-pyrenees offer 10% discount when you build your own bundle, but just wondered if anyone knew of any other stores.
regards,
Greg

kitenski,
They don't make much profit at all on peeps (father-in-law of a friend worked for one of the big sports outlets and even he couldn't get a good discount for his son-in-law).
The bundles are cheaper but tend to be made up of less than top-notch items. (e.g. plastic shovels instead of a decent metal one and peeps that aren't so easy to use). You tend to get what you pay for. (e.g. the G3 Avitech shovel isn't cheap but is metal and light)

I got my nost recent beeper and shovel through snowbigdeal with good service, but you will end up paying duty and a handling charge.
The ski club package discount from Lockwoods was quite good too... Some good package dealshere would work out about £240 for a good probe transceiver and shovel and delivery.

Hmmmm... a friend who works for a local store gets 50% on his beacons so I'm not totally convinced that there is no profit in avalanche beacons.
Why don't you buy in Europe?
For example the Vieux Campeur will do you a Barryvox Pulse for 329 E + 44E for a probe and shovel... someone can probably convert that into UKP. I would probably go for a BD Deploy 3 avalanche shovel (very compact, strong and light) at 52E + 19E for a probe. If you are on a budget you can get the Ortovox retriever for 144E (so that would be 188E for the cheapest pack - that must be just a shade over 100 quid).
You can read my review of some of this seasons Avy gear in the Avalanche Review

They must be selling them at twice the price then
There are cases where companies susidise safety quipment as it's in their interest for their staff not to be burried until it thawns out in Spring.
Can you find out how much profit they do make?
