Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Very Happy

Sat/Sun 20th/21st Jan 07:

Aps shockingly snowless on flight approach to Salzburg; T shirt weather when we got off the plane....so far so bad.

Signs of snow on shady slopes as we began the drive up to Obertauern....and full cover on all runs when we arrived!

Conditions 100 times better than anticipated though +5C on Sat at 1700m - north facing runs great (hardpack); south facing runs very soft (mush in places) but hardly any bare spots to report. The overall appearance of the mountains was more like March than January but they've done a great job with maintenance and pisting.

On Sunday (21st) lunchtime it started dumping snow. Everywhere much improved by close of play Sunday & snowing heavily above 900m as we descended back to Salzburg - strangely this is not reflected in the Skiclub snow report today- no mention of any new snow. Bit strange that.....

Anyway, the message to anyone who's off to Obertauern is "don't have nightmares" - have a great time instead!

(Fingers crossed for everyone who's off to any lower areas - at least snow >900m is a start.)

Can someone give an idea of how far Obertauern is in terms of travel from the main resorts Zell, Saalfelden etc ...
