...would you put at the top of your list. You must go somewhere for half term week 10-17 Feb.
And for the purposes of the question please assume you are a little prone to altitude sickness so you want to stay below 3,000m, and also you don't want a long flight so it has to be Europe, West or East.
Snow is of course your first concern but also you don't want to spend a fortune, and some sun would be nice, and tree lined slopes, ok thats it.
Fire away....

Any more suggestions ?
Or is 10 Feb too far away ?
We have some expert weather forecast readers on here, which has the better chance of being white at that time, Austria or France ?
(I was also considering Bansko but that is waning as not many on here look at it - we have very few reports/ forecasts)
Thanks for all suggestions,
Mike

If I hadn't already booked France, then right now I would be booking for Are in Sweden. Their temps have finally dropped a lot and they have some good snow.

mike.healy, One of my friends is just back from Serre Chevalier and said it was ok but they could have done with more snow. She also said that more snow was forecast though.

Lots of places are going to get snow in the next couple of days although some weather models are showing it getting warm again in two weeks. With the current situation I'd try and hold out as long as poss until booking or book something near a glacier. Obertauern is a very high village but the top runs are under 3000m.

Trees in La Daille, Breviere, Solaise etc.
Trees are not much good to ski in without snow

stewart woodward, Loads of trees in Tignes les Breviere - I think it's the nicest place in the area with some great runs as well.

stewart woodward, true, I have only skied in Tignes for a day, and it was very bleak and cold at the time. I don;t have good memories of it, sorry.

Thanks for all of your suggestions. I have considered them all along with about 8 hours of research in "Where to Ski and Snowboard" and I have decided on Val D'Isere, in the main town not La Dialle.
I enjoyed Bansko last Feb but there isn't much snow there at the moment and it doesn't look that cheap anymore, I'm going to Val for less than I could get to Bansko for, both half board, and the food will be infintely better, and warmer. The bulgarians think hot food is bad for you. Beer will be dearer but I don't need much these days. Oh, and I will dearly miss the scrum for the single gondola every morning at 9:15. Skischool and lift passes will be dearer, probably double.
I've booked with Skiworld. (skiworld.ltd.uk ...you'd never find it with that address) I haven't booked lift passes yet but I guess I can get that on our first day in resort - unless its better to do it online in advance ? please tell...
Nor have I booked Ski school which I would like not only for the tuition but also for meeting people and the cameradery of the group. Any recommendations for Ski school, not too dear, prefer groups of 10/12 ?
All insights most welcome.
