I understand that, having been in some doubt, the race is now 'definitely' on. Not sure how they say 10 days in advance, but that's what I'm told by a (very relieved) Kitzbuhel hotelier.

richmond, It starts in less than 10 days, there are three days of downhill practice scheduled.

Anybody been to Kitz this year. The photos of the helicopter operation seem to suggest there is almost no snow all over the mountain, but the offical website has over 3/4 of the lifts running. What is the situation?

Maybe 3/4 of th elifts are running... if you're a mountain biker or walker.... Hope there's some snow soon - I'm there Feb 3rd for 5 days!!! Migt have to cancel the hotel and divert to somewhere a little less "grassy" if things don't perk up a bit

The ski safari is open and a lot of the upper slopes appear to be open. I'll try to report back during next week.

According to the Hahnenkamm website, there are to be 2 slaloms, one as a replacement for the Wengen slalom, and that seems to be it; no other races. Does that make sense?

Definately no snow and we are out here.
However it as just started snowing but I don't think it is in time for the weekend.

richmond, Slalom races don't take up nearly as much space as a downhill, plus they just need to be set up for one day. A downhill needs to have multiple training days in advance of the race itself.
The downhill training runs were due to start tomorrow.

It does look better after Sunday though. Metcheck is giving some pretty low temps for around Wed. Should I pack my umbrella?
