Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Last minute ski???? Need help

 Poster: A snowHead

Does anyone have any advise for a 2nd week skier wanting to get a last minute ski holiday in February. Money isn't really a problem I just have no idea how to predict where the conditions will be best!

Neither does anyone else, really, but one sure thing is that if you come to France, the first week will be best from the point of view of crowds; the whole of the rest of the month is school holidays, and busy. Otherwise, given the pattern to date and the dearth of base at lower altitudes, go high. Val Thorens, somewhere like that. Should be some good last minute deals available, too, so that if money is not a problem you could go somewhere really luxurious (to make up for Val T being bleak and treeless??). It looks as though there is going to be some snow during the last quarter of January, but then becoming mild again, so the first week in Feb might be a good bet from the weather point of view, too.

pam w, I agree.

You better like crowds and lots of whining kids! School holidays should be banned until much later, possibly May!

Call Le Bel Horizon hotel in Val Thorens, i'm there at the moment (leave today). They have space and bargains are to be had.

Good luck.

Rob,

Certain places in the USA have great snow conditions at the moment, or are you only looking at a European holiday?

You can't beat whining kids - but you can still take away their toys!

I was looking at Canada but it is looking like my budget won't stretch that far. I am liking the idea of VT the week starting 29th Jan but I am unsure about my calendar. I definately do want to beat the school holidays though!
