Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Ski and Boot Insurance

Hi, complete beginners, shall I book the insurance the ski rental shops offer?

I never get insurance if I can afford to make the cost of loss without busting a gut. Unless you're felling particularly unlucky, I'd hang onto the premium yourself.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Do you have travel insurance? If so, check and see what that covers. You don't want to be paying twice for the same thing

The travel insurance doesn't cover the ski hire, but its only about £8 each for the week. So I guess the the £8 would be cheaper than buying the ski's!!

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

tigger99, yes much, but the insurance company presumably reckon that the odds favour them, so I'd hang on to the money and back yourself not to lose them.

tigger99,

To some extent, it probably depends where you are going.

In most places, rental skis don't tend to get stolen (and I've never heard of boots going), and it is unlikely you wuld break them.

But if you are somewhere that you will usually be stopping for lunch where there is road access, the risk is higher.

And if you are somewhere with not much snow, and they charge for large gouges, then the risk is higher.

But remember, any insurance is a bet, which the bookmakers (insurance company) are much more likley to win So the average cost of insurance must be higher than the average cost of claims.
