Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better!
Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Great forum! This is my first post
I'm flying to Prague in two weeks (26 January). Hoping that conditions will improve, I'm planning to go skiing for a week.
I'm considering
Spindleruv-mlyn
(
Czech Republic
) and
Strbske pleso
and
Tatranska Lomnica
(both in the
High Tatras, Slovakia
).
I'm no pro, so don't need any really challenging pistes. Just want to have some fun with some (at least) decent skiing and hopefully some good après ski as well.
I've searched the forum, but found no information on the Czech resort, and very little on the High Tatras.
I've browsed the resorts' own webpages, but of course information seems a bit biased...

I am an experienced skiier and whilst in the Slovak Rep a few summers ago I diverted to the tatras to see if the resort would be worth a visit in the winter. It was obvious that the slopes were very mild (maybe blue runs) and the the lift systems very poor. Therefore probably not worth it for anyone past beginner. However on the plus side I bought a pint of the local lager in Poprad station (main station for the slovak tatras) for 8p. If you go it maybe worth staying in poprad (cheaper & prob better hotel and get the mini tram/train into the report in the morning.
