Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Les Gets bus to Les Prodains

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hi there, great forum - wish I'd found it before.

Quick question for PdS people - with the current (and getting worse) conditions in Les Gets, is there a way to get to Les Prodains cable car by bus? The small group I'm going with next week (18th Jan) have booked a transfer from GVA rather than a rental car, so we won't have our own transport. I'm wondering if it's worth persuading them to change that - or just cancel the whole thing and book again when conditions are better.

Cheers for any advice!

There's definitely bus between Les Gets and Morzine (I've used it). From Morzine, there must be a bus to Ardent or Les Prodains (which is very possibly the same bus? Maybe the Les Gets bus goes all the way to one or other of the open entry points to Avoriaz?
The Les Gets and Morzine websites have no transport info, which is a real shame. One of the PdS resident snowheads can probably confirm.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

hatpegs, there is a bus to Morzine from Les Gets but it is very infrequent. You would have to get another bus from the centre of town to Prodains or Ardent. My advice is cancel the transfer and get a car, definately. For info, they are closing the local Morzine skiing, Pleney and Nyon, tomorrow evening. Not sure about Les Gets.

cheers

hatpegs, there's a Morzine bus route map with times on this link from the Morzine website:

Hope that helps.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Dunno how you found that map. Useful though.
I'd probably second zzz on the rental car option. Don't really know which out of Ardent or Prodains is most convenient. Ardent certainly has decent parking (which I think is free, or at least we never paid). Only ever got bus from Prodains down to Morzine (where minibus was parked), so don't know what parking is like there. Maybe the carparks will be busier than usual as people seek out the best snow? Car gives you the choice too - if you're lucky, Flaine are still honoring the 1 day reciprocal agreement for 6-day pass holders.

andy, agree - car would be the best option - probably won't need snow chains, either!

To find the bus maps, it's on the Morzine website - morzine.com - click on winter, maps, then downlaod bus maps.

hatpegs, Ardent is most convenient if you are in a car, Prodain by bus. Further to my last. Les Gets skiing is closing this weekend as well as Morzine. Sad

Thanks for the info - all most depressing! zzz - when you say Les Gets / Morzine are closing this weekend, do you mean all of it?! Nothing left running at all?! If that's the case then it's car or cancellation for sure - or a magical wx forecast change.

hatpegs, Pleney/Nyon all closed definately. Lady running the crepe stall at the bottom of Pleney says all Les Gets as well. To be honest you wouldn't want to ski there anyway at the moment.
On a more positive note, the Avoriaz skiing whilst not being the best is adequate. Imagine you are skiing end of March beginning April and you wont be too disappointed.

hatpegs, I'm with zzz - rent a car and drive up to Ardent. Prodains is unpleasant at the best of times...

The best option is to hire a car. You then have the flexability to go either to Avoriaz or even to Flaine. Easy to drive to Les Gets from GVA. Have fun.

Cancel the transfer, "you know it makes sense Rodney"!! Laughing
