professorpool, La Rosiere, www.tracksvacations.com
I believe they have plenty of space left due to Family FtS being booked in 11-18th (Sun-Sun)

Link didnt go anywhere.
I'll be honest, I hate travel agents preferring to book direct. Was more looking for resort ideas.
Especially ideas that involve reduced crowds!

professorpool, Dubai, probably best bet for guaranteed skiing

Or Namibia - I hear that sandboarding on the dunes is all the rage. Same kit as snowboarding, but I guess thermals probably not necessary. Skis might be a bit hard work though.
Never really considered defecting before, but that does sound like a laugh, although I think eating snow is probably preferable to eating sand after a yard sale.

If you want to go "somewhere different" this season - go somewhere with snow. That'll be different...

professorpool, better find somewhere no Brits go for half term or with a superlative lift system. Hate to say it, but the Espace Killy has the latter. Also has more snow currently than most other destinations.

andy, I had a bash at dune boarding in Peru a few years ago. It's OK, but the sand gets everywhere (I still find the odd grain here and there) and there were no lifts; climbing up a dune is ridiculously hard work. It won't catch on.

richmond, get the banks to fund lift installation, get the brits to swarm in their millions to set up chalets etc to push land price up past the 1M GBP barrier, then sods law will create a mini-iceage... then we'll be happy
No idea for a sensible answer to professorpool's original post though. I keep looking at map deciding which ones are driveable after work on a Friday, but even now I still can't decide, despite most of the major Austrian/Swiss resorts and PdS being with 6 hours.

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

Yeah I reckon PDS. 10-11 hours door to door including the ferry and waiting around for me so nice and easy.
Will probably end up at Les Gets again as I now the resort well.
Self catering preferred thogh will look at anything.
Hate chalet holidays. Doen two. Hated them both (well, apart from the skiing of course).
