Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Sounds to me like a good plan for novices here is to post where we are off to and ask if anyone has experience with the various lifts and will we find any scary surprises at the tops when we get there - some of the later posts sound downright scary. Shocked

Poor Mr geetee! I'll go on the horstman t-bar with Mr geetee (or do I remember somewhere in the depths of my mind that someone warned me not to get on the chairlift with him?!!) wink

Mind you, don't you find some people insist on going up the t-bar with such a wide stance that you've barely got room to put down your nice shiny new skis without your partner scratching them up? Tsk! rolling eyes

Oh and don't knock getting off a chairlift on a snowboard. It's really hard. I've taken many a person out doing that! (unintentionally of course!!)
I've got off a chair lift wearing one ski (having had a pesky ski-class mate knock my other ski off when trying to get on the Garbanzo), and that's much easier! Shocked

Snowy, Laughing thanks mate! Would you get back on a t-bar with someone who had pushed you off?

this thread is getting like one of those childbirth horror story sessions people come up with to "reassure" a nervous mother-to-be. Poor notverygoodatskiing is looking for some reassurance! Just do the deep breathing and don't push till you're told, and you'll be fine. Get someone else to carry your poles, as various people have suggested. And learn how to shout "get out of the effing way!" in all known languages.

Swirly, this particular lift was not so much as plunging straight down, it but lwas ong and narrow and hemmed in at both side, so there was no chance of a quick stop and hop to the side, you had to ride it like the cresta run ! Also it was an older chair lift that did not really slow down too much as i can recall

No. I don't ski with Bob. If I do, I usually find him next to the chairlift queue, tapping his watch. Other than that, I find he blends into the trees well and I ski past him without noticing. I think he must stand too still or something. Blush

The rare occasion I did ski with him last year was skiing down flute (30 seconds of skiing). rolling eyes snowHead
