Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Parents first trip 2008

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
I have convinced my parents to try a ski trip next season. Both are in their mid 50s and are pretty fit. Although I doubt if they would want to ski all day like me.

Of all the resorts I've been to I was thinking of taking them to Zell am See.

Reasons:

Very pretty setting

Lakeside Walks

Reasonable sized town

They can get the train to Salzberg for the day

Any other recommendations

johnboy, I think it's a good idea to go somewhere you know. We went to Westendorf with my mum last January, it's somewhere she also knows well. She found the Tourist Office was good for organising non-skiing activities - she did snow shoe walking, cross-country skiing and toboganning.

if they are going to learn to ski, the quality of ski school will be a key consideration. If they are keen to learn, and not so bothered about the range of other activities, easiski is doing some over 50s weeks, I think. I can't think of a better way to learn. Don't be too sure they won't want to ski all day, if they get hooked. I can ski all day, no problems, and I'm nearly 60. But if they can't find an oldies class, one of the British schools such as BASS in Les Gets or Morzine? If they are "pretty fit" they'll probably be fitter than a lot of the couch potatoes in their '20s. They could try a "learn to ski in a day" course at Milton Keynes. They'd know after that whether it was something they wanted to continue.

Zell am See is a good choice. Plenty to do if they dont ski.
I'm 60 and my wife is 62. (maybee the oldest snowheads)
We are still looking forward to skiing at 70.
So tell them to try it......

johnboy, My first skiing trip was to Zell am See, I only did a couple of the runs (apart from the nursery slopes ) but the resort was lovely. Only problem was by the Wednesday I was hooked and asking where were we going for the next trip Shocked

Yes, but for how long? I suspect that as today's active older skiers get towards that age, it'll be raised. rolling eyes
