Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

To take boots/skis donated or hire when I arrive?

 Poster: A snowHead

Hi all,

Some advice needed for a first time skier, I am going to Courchevel 1650 in a few days time. I was recently asked if I wanted the following ski equipment for free:

1) Vielhaber MTB Fusion system 180 skis fitted with Solomon S637 bindings
2) Koflach CE 500 ski boots
3) 2 sets of ski poles

The boots seems to fit really well and I am 5ft 9 tall, I believe that makes a difference to the length!

I have no idea how old the equipment is but it looks in really good condition.

My question is:

Is it worth accepting them them and taking them with me on the ski train? If so, approx how much would it cost to get them checked/serviced when I get there?

or

Would it be better to hire skis/boots when I arrive in the resort? If so any good deals?

Thanks

Welcome to snowHeads HKKHELEN, snowHead

The skis are definitely too long for you so leave them.
I'll leave it to someone better qualified than me to opine on the boots.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Hey HKKHELEN, Welcome.

I believe ( but I guess it's just about possible that I'm wrong wink ) that this boot is a rear entry, Male specific boot, of considerable vintage. Like admin's advice on the skis, I would leave the boots as well.

Hire in resort and make sure you take time to ensure the boot is comfortable else they'll ruin your week.

HKKHELEN, welcome to snowHead 's the boots and skis are from around the early to mid 80's, technology has moved on dramatically since then and the best thing you can do is to hire kit in resort when you get there, you will get up to date kit and even though the boots will not be fitted for you they will be a much better performance level than the CE 500

have a great trip Toofy Grin
