Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Beginners Guide to adjusting bindings

Spideog, If they've been properly torque tested then they could be set differently if that's what required for them to release at the correct setting, ie due to spring wear etc they may require a setting of 6.5 to actually release at 6.

I went to buy some boots on holiday and the shop discovered my bindings were set on different settings by the hire shop (front and back). They said that they were dangerously set.

I guess I better had get mine checked out then as they are 0.5 different between the front and back.

Snow and Rock do it for free.

I've just received my skis from Filarinskis - enclosed with them is a letter that explains the binding settings and why there may be a difference between toe and heel bindings. It's because they test the binding release accuracy with a highly accurate piece of binding testing equipment that gives the actual binding release value and is far more accurate than the plastic scale in the bindings. Because of this the numbers in the windows could differ - eg 7 on toe and 6.5 on heel - and should not be "corrected". So professorpool, I wouldn't be concerned about a difference of 0.5 between front and rear if this is what was set by the shop.
