Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

public enemy lengths

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
I decided to get a pair of this years public enemy last week when I was in VT - primary reason was that I was finding my fujatives (159) a little unstable on piste, and I wanted a ski which I can use on piste, a little park and off piste. The smallest length the shops in Val Thorens seemed to be 169s which is what I got in the end - despite aiming for 164s. Question is, have I been sold skis which are too long?

I know that ski lengths are difficult decide on and depends on ones skiing ability, how aggressive they ski and a number of other things, but for reference I weigh about 10st (all Christmas lbs.... honest) and am about 5'5.

Cheers

At 5'5" and 10st, I think you might be a bit long with a 169 - but they'll be great in powder!

They won't be bad on piste, just a bit more of a handful to control. We're not talking massive differences, and you'll get used to them quickly.

If you haven't got them mounted yet, I'd suggest putting the bindings 2-3cm forward of the mid sole mark, as that will help too.

I'm just under 6ft, and around 14st Sad Shocked and have the 174s in my quiver.

 Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

I ride PE 169's and Volkl V pro 170's(my fav skis ever) they both seem to work perfectly for me but I'm 2 inches and 2 stone bigger than you and ride very aggressively. Twin tips edge is actually shorter than a standard ski of same length so you can prob get away with a longer length. (I know your last skis were twins but the're only good for the park, way to soft)
As Foxy says can recommend mounting bindings more forward.
