Poster: A snowHead

It's about time ( especially with new skis) that I got new ski baggage.
Requirements:
1. Skis and poles in one bag, rest of baggage including boots in another.
2. Ski bag must hold a single pair of 178 skis.
3. Must conform with current airline conditions - especially flybe and easyjet.
4. Lowish cost, if I can get away with it.
Graphics are unimportant.
As I can get a discount form Ellis Brigham, I have been looking at a Salamon ski bag, and a Salamon Container. Any other suggestions?

I'd be happy with my old ski bag.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Wear The Fox Hat, My old ski bag is a very battered EB one with dragon graphics (good to spot on the airport carousel) - it had space to spare for my 195 cm skis. It had no padding and is cut up. Really time it went.

achilles,
I got the Salamon ski bag above for my Birthday last week and have used it already seems OK. Got a new 140ltr grip to go to the PSB and picked up a bag for £60 from Blacks and have had no problems with it.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Da Kine Split Roller. I think they're around £99 which might not fit your lowish cost requirement, but mine's stood up to 5 years of galavanting and nothing's dropped off it yet. I know at least 6 others who have them and we all seem happy.

Bode Swiller, Interesting - but does it have a compartment for boots - preferably with drain holes?
II, thanks for the comment about the ski and Blacks bag.

OK - thanks everybody. I've decided to go for the Salamon stuff. I had thought there would be a premium for that brand name - but it actually seems good value for money - and though The DaKine may be worth the extra for the regular traveller, I don't travel as much as I used to.

I have the Head Monster wheely ski bag, which can get all the gear in I need. Only problem is, the bag itself weighs 6kg. Loaded up with one pair of skis it came in a 30kg, another pair and it's starting to look like 35kgs. Not so bad on a ski flight when you can book a ski bag in, but on a scheduled flight to North America, starts to become and issue.

achilles, I look forward to watching you at the carousel (not that I'd know what you looked like), scratching your head, wondering which one of the 786 Salomon bags might be yours

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

Bode Swiller, Yeah. That worries me a bit. The nice thing about my old ski bag was that it was loud, cheerful - and only one or 2 other skiers in the world seemed to have one.

achilles, I tie contrasting ribbons on to the handles so I can be shure it's mine as I grab it of the belt.
Once, my bag was immediately followed by an identical one which is either a strange chance or a handler's joke. Mine was identified by the duct tape repairs I have made
