Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Dilemma

Maybe this should be in the equipment section ....

I'm off on my first trip of the season on Chirstmas day. I will be in Switzerland where, currently, snow cover is limited and the forecast is for cold weather with no precipitation.

So, if I leave my powder skis at home do I:

a) carry less and just enjoy being in the mountains or
b) jinx the weather into dumping while I'm there

Of course if the answer is b) then I will be without my powder skis which will be a shame but not a disaster.

So, fellow snowHead s, do I take the big boys with me, or leave them for Austria in March?

Who goes? You decide.

Leave them, and IF there's a big dump, then rent.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

I would have thought that you must take them, then at least if that ammount of white comes then you have the option.

If you want to ski powder you MUST leave them at home. Only way you'll guarentee a big dump. If you take them you're guarenteed a week of hard-pack and ice.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

stevec, I think you're right. But I just hate to leave them all lonely under the stiars. They've had a nice wax and edge and they're just ready to hit the town and I have to tell them to stay at home Crying or Very sad

It's sad, but in my heart of hearts I know it's the right thing to do.

Zammo - if they have a nice edge, you HAVE to leave them at home. There's very little base (of snow) in France right now except what they've been able to make with the snow guns. If there's a big dump (unless it's EPIC amounts of snow), you will trash your nice edges on the rocks under all that powder. My poor skis have never recovered from Courcheval last Jan!

Keep in mind, you're doing a great thing for the rest of us who are coming to France by leaving them home Smile I'll know it was due to you if we get any snow this upcoming week.

Have a Happy Christmas!

Just take them to bed for a couple of nights and cuddle them. THey'll be fine.

Jeez, in my day all we had to worry about was whether there was any snow...
